3rd Month Income - Gloom And Doom
Posted on June 3rd, 2008 by SOBPretty depressing title, but I am not depressed. Its was used just for a shock factor and nothing else. My 3rd month of affiliate marketing was nothing to brag about either. You would think that I would be making money by now huh? But, as I mentioned in my last months income posting that I messed around with one of my easy money cash cow offers with Azoogle , and that really sucked. That just meant that I had to actually make an effort to make money.
In May I spent: $1303.84 (Google does not want my money - My daily spending is set at $6500 lol)
Revenue: $860.19
Loss: $443.65
Seems like it is just getting worse day by day, but I don’t think it is. I know that this month I will make a profit, a small one none the less, it will be a positive change. Last month, I tried the strategy of bidding high, get the CTR high, and thus increase your Quality score and lower your min CPC. I am happy to say, that it did work. I did not bid extremely high, but high enough, and for a very competitive niche, I am showing on Position #8 or 9 and paying half of what I was paying in the beginning of last month.
I would like to give this advice though. If you are starting out, don’t assume that you need to have a 10,000 keyword list. If you are starting out, that will just mean that you are spending most of your time pausing or deleting your “Poor” keywords, or wasting your clicks on unrelated keywords. Keep each adgroup small and targeted, where you can spend more time fine tuning your campaign, and expanding keywords as you go along.
One good thing I did last month was I started tracking my keywords, using a simple PHP code that I found on Click Consultants forum, and that has really helped. Now I can tell which keywords are converting. I am currently using Statsremote (beta version) and that is awesome, since it gives me my P&L stats from all the networks instantly, at any given time. However, I hired a developer yesterday, to help me build an in-house keyword conversion tracking software. I tried to use Prosper202, but that was just more work that I am wanting to put in. This software will help me stream line, and pretty much automate the entire process, while also encrypting my converting keywords from the affiliate networks.

Hey man,
You’ll get it, keep up the work and testing. You’ll run out of things that don’t work, and you’ll be left with the good ones. Most people don’t have the determination to go 3 months, in a down-ward trend like your doing now, but everyone I know who has done that started to make a good profit soon after. Your doing great.
Please let me know if you ever need any help I’d be glad to lend a hand if your on AIM, my aim is T202Wes, although I’m not on much if you also message me yours I can message you out and see if I can help you out. I appreciate you trying out the software, it can be alot of manual input I agree.
Sometimes for speedppc users its to much work, so they skip the text ad tracking, this allows it to not require so much manual inputting of the text ad which is usually a compliant. It can be skipped although to speed up the process, its better on setting up new campaigns on it, then trying to move everything over sometimes. At any rate, whatever you do, your doing great, even though its negative thats a great sign of progress because I know you’ll have it soon. because its the way it works!
Cheers, have a great one! If your around at ASE let me know!
