Free Landing Page Friday – Dating

Posted by SOB in Uncategorized

For the first installment of free landing pages, I wanted to give a landing page that almost everyone is in, or wants to get in. So, I picked dating.  There are many ways you can promote a dating campaign.

  • Just run a general “online dating” campaign
  • Run a niche dating – like Christian dating, Hispanic dating etc.
  • Run a review type site comparing online dating sites
  • Run an options site – where the user has a choice whether they want Christian dating, or Hispanic dating or Gay dating or Adult dating etc.
  • A niche that I think would be interesting to run would be dating over 40.

Offer #3905 of eHarmony at Incentaclick seems to convert well.

Anyways, you get the idea.  The below landing page is just a general dating landing page that you can modify as you choose.

Group Your Keywords. Group Your Keywords.

Posted by SOB in Uncategorized

How many times have you heard the pros tell you that you have to “tightly group” your keywords?  Well, let me say it to you as a n00b.  Group your keywords.  Let me tell you why.

Last week, I was pruning one of my campaign.  This was one of my first campaigns that I started, targeting an extremely competitive niche.  So, when I started this campaign a couple of months back, obviously, I added 1000s upon 1000s of keywords.  Kws totalling over 12000 (thats twelve thousand), and I thought I was tightly grouping them.  WRONG!

Here is what I did.  I downloaded all the stats to Adwords Editor for all time, and sorted them by KW names.  I found that there were many kws that were duplicates. ie. the same kw was in more than one adgroup. Which was a problem, because I also noticed that in 1 adgroup, it was ranking at position #5 with a low CPC and in another group it was ranking much lower with a higher CPC.

I first removed all the dupe keywords that were ranking low with high CPC from various adgroups.  Next, I removed all the kws that were taking up my time, ie. kws that haven’t gotten any impressions in the last month, or really low impressions and no clicks since the campaign was started.  Then I removed kws that had impressions, had clicks, but were not really getting any conversions.

The 12000 kws are now just a little over 1800 kws in 25 adgroups.  My avg CPC has gone down, my CTR has increased, and ofcourse, I am getting more targetted and quality traffic.

I Think MarketLeverage Lost My Address

Posted by SOB in Uncategorized

Dear MarketLeverage,

I must have seen atleast 5 bloggers/affiliate marketers showing off their Marketleverage schwag.

Zac Johnson got his
Chad (CDF Networks) got his
John Chow got his – oh and he has one extra one to give away!
Shoemoney got his
Andrew Wee got his
Alan (Affiliate Confession) got his

And it made me wonder whether you just lost my address or am I not just a big enough fish yet?  So what do you have to do to get the bag of goodies ML?   Promote your affiliate program?  Promote You?  Or just be a well known blogger?  I think I qualify for 2 out of the 3 reasons (maybe even all three ;) ).

Let me know.

Regards

3rd Month Income – Gloom And Doom

Posted by SOB in Uncategorized

Pretty depressing title, but I am not depressed.  Its was used just for a shock factor and nothing else.  My 3rd month of affiliate marketing was nothing to brag about either.  You would think that I would be making money by now huh?  But, as I mentioned in my last months income posting that I messed around with one of my easy money cash cow offers with Azoogle, and that really sucked.  That just meant that I had to actually make an effort to make money.

In May I spent: $1303.84 (Google does not want my money – My daily spending is set at $6500 lol)

Revenue: $860.19

Loss: $443.65

Seems like it is just getting worse day by day, but I don’t think it is.  I know that this month I will make a profit, a small one none the less, it will be a positive change.  Last month, I tried the strategy of bidding high, get the CTR high, and thus increase your Quality score and lower your min CPC.  I am happy to say, that it did work.  I did not bid extremely high, but high enough, and for a very competitive niche, I am showing on Position #8 or 9 and paying half of what I was paying in the beginning of last month.

I would like to give this advice though.  If you are starting out, don’t assume that you need to have a 10,000 keyword list.  If you are starting out, that will just mean that you are spending most of your time pausing or deleting your “Poor” keywords, or wasting your clicks on unrelated keywords.  Keep each adgroup small and targeted, where you can spend more time fine tuning your campaign, and expanding keywords as you go along.

One good thing I did last month was I started tracking my keywords, using a simple PHP code that I found on Click Consultants forum, and that has really helped.  Now I can tell which keywords are converting.  I am currently using Statsremote (beta version) and that is awesome, since it gives me my  P&L stats from all the networks instantly, at any given time.  However, I hired a developer yesterday, to help me build an in-house keyword conversion tracking software.  I tried to use Prosper202, but that was just more work that I am wanting to put in.  This software will help me stream line, and pretty much automate the entire process, while also encrypting my converting keywords from the affiliate networks.
